Hey there guys, just a short and light article today as I really don’t feel like doing much after these 3 weeks of college assignments. Today, I thought I’d share the movie/tv/game theme tunes that I will never forget. You will notice that some of these are before my time, but still oh so epic. I should also note that this is just a selection of theme tunes to remember, there are loads more but these are the most memorable for me. Credits obviously go to the people who made and own these themes.
So, let’s start off with a bang:
Superman Main Theme (1978)
The theme from the fantastic Superman films with Christopher Reeve, the best Superman to date. This tune is my absolute favourite because it just sounds so epic and superman-y … or something.
Star Wars Main Theme (1977)
I’m sure just about everyone knows this. The famous Star Wars movie theme by John Williams who worked on a truckload of other movie themes (Indiana Jones, Superman, Harry Potter, …). Another epic tune, enjoy
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003)
This one is made my Hans Zimmer, who is also a fairly big name in that industry. I really tthink this is one of the most memorable movie theme tunes of this time. It just manages to capture the feel and epicness of the movies so well.
The Godfather Love Theme (1972)
This all-time classic by the hand of Francis Ford Coppola starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino has one of the most recognisable movie tunes to date I believe. Music is composed by Larry Kusic and Nino Rota. This theme really manages to communicate the atmosphere of 1930’s New York.
The X-Files Main Theme (1994)
This is one of my favourite themes of all time. Mostly due to it’s rather creepy feel to it. Theme is composed by Mark Snow. This is a blast from the past for me, as I remember my parents watching the X-files on tv when I was little and it scared the shit out of me … good times!
Back To The Future Main Theme (1985)
Another blast from the past. This is the movie from my childhood that has led me to like science-fiction and movies as a whole. Sublime perfomances from Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. This one is composed by Alan Silvestri, and once again manages to capture the atmosphere of the movie and adds a lot of value to it.
James Bond Main Theme (1962)
Obviously a real classic with 22 James Bond movies released to date starring several different actors such as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Craig David. Music was written by Monty Norman but has had several edits by other composers.
Star Trek: The Next Generation Opening Theme (1987)
One of the installments of the Star Trek franchise featuring, among others, Patrick Stewart as Cpt. Jean-Luc Picard and Jonathan Frakes as Commander Riker. The theme song has the voice of Patrick Stewart stating the starship Enterprise’s continuing mission
‘Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before’
No words will ever describe how epic the show, and this theme tune are.
Starring Adam West as Batman, this 1960’s show has entertained young and old. Although looking a bit ridiculous in this day and age it’s still such a classic. The theme tune is something that really sticks in your head, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about once you watched it!
The theme song to the 1989 classic Batman movie directed by Tim Burton. It was a very Burton-y movie, pretty dark and all that. This was also reflected in the theme song, still one of the best themes around really.
Jurrassic Park Main Theme (1993)
This one is more of a request than anything else because I didn’t plan to put this in. But nevertheless a really good tune. This one was composed by, who else, John Williams.
Well, that’s about all I got for today. I realise I only added movie and tv theme tunes but rest assured that a game music edition is coming soon featuring a lot of well known game music that will make you shudder in awe!
Anyway, question for you guys: What theme tunes will you never forget? Leave the answer in the comment section below.
